In Sufic esotericism, the training consciously or unconsciously imparts the perfection of all faculties, leading the sincere soul toward the doctrine of the unity of the Lord (Batin al Batin). This is the balance of truth that supports heaven and earth, distinguishing the purified soul, destined for "eternal reward and the last perfection," from those held in the "torment of matter, confusion, and misery." The body of the holy one is essentially pure as spirit, and by opening our vision with the pure light of the Sovereign, we are aware of  the illusion.
Sufi Breathwork (Dhikr) and Negative Entropy
Modern science is now beginning to map this ancient wisdom onto tangible biological changes. The human brain is a vast network of synchronized electrical activity. Neurological health depends on this coherent communication, which can be disrupted by disorders or tumors.
A recent study examined the effects of Sufi breathwork and meditation (dhikr) on the brain, suggesting that its benefits are associated with the negative entropy quality of spiritual energies. Negative entropy indicates that a system is becoming more ordered or less disordered. An increase in coherence (the synchronization of brain pathways) is used as a biomarker for this increase in negative entropy, which has been proven to improve mental and physical health.
The practice of dhikr, often involving a bodily turning movement, plays a fundamental role in synchronization because it is the specific spiritual act that brings the "scattered elements or parts of man... together only through... breath."

By simply sitting and concentrating on the feeling of receiving, the breath may naturally be drawn inwardly and held for a longer time. By becoming fully aware of the Divine Breath we receive and release, we can begin to rise above the threshold of ego and move toward enlightenment.

We are conditioned to view illness as a simple genetic mutation problem.
