“Real Spirit of Charity is to Have no Thought of Oneself."
Almighty creates a home inside the believer: the heart. He sent a wind of His grace to cleanse this house of doubt, hypocrisy, discord, and idolatry. Afterward, He commanded the clouds of His favor to rain over the heart, and all kinds of plants grew, including sincerity, trust, hope, love, and fear.
In the center of this sacred home, God placed a couch of unity, covering it with the rug of contentment. Opposite the couch, He planted the tree of knowledge, its roots deep in the heart and its branches reaching into the sky, below the divine throne. On either side of the couch, He placed armrests of His divine laws.
He then opened a door to the garden of His mercy and sowed fragrant herbs of glorification, praise, and exaltation. Waters from the ocean of guidance flowed to these plants through the river of kindness. He hung a lamp of grace high on the door, illuminating it with the oil of purity and the light of piety. He then locked this door to keep out the wicked, holding the key Himself and entrusting it to no one. He declared, “This is My treasure on My earth, the mine of My sight, the home of My unity, and I am the resident of this dwelling.”
What an excellent resident and what a wonderful home! Yet,we know that only God can lead us to this goal—not human effort. His greatness is higher than any path we could create to reach Him. There is no guide to God except God Himself.
The Limits of Human Intellect
You may wonder how intellects cannot reach God, yet He can be known through the intellect. The answer is simple: a being with temporal limits cannot possibly comprehend one who has no such limits. A being beset with frailties cannot comprehend one with no weakness or infirmity. The only way is to turn the reins over to God. As the saying goes, "Whatever I thought and contemplated about happened otherwise. And whatever I did, He ruined."
Because God is humankind’s truest friend, believers do not need to be concerned with questions about their ultimate destiny or predestination. Their only task is to choose God above all else. Temptation is being occupied with something other than God. The body is a significant source of temptation, as it desires the things of this world and can lead one to oppose God. Wealth can also lead us astray, which is why the believer should choose poverty.
True poverty, however, extends beyond material lack and merges with altruism. A poor person is quiet when they possess nothing, yet generous and unselfish when they possess something. The mark of true poverty is joy—the ability to find joy in one’s poverty and composure in the face of misfortune. This joy comes from being oriented toward God at all times, free from attachments to everything else. The highest station is the severance of all attachment.
The Four Layers of the Heart
Intimate knowledge of God is found in the heart. God created the heart as the location for our encounter with Him, and it is composed of four layers:
Breast (ßadr): The outermost layer, which harbors Islam—submission to one Creator.
Heart (qalb): The next layer, which holds faith.
Inner heart (fu’A˚d): The third layer, containing intimate knowledge.
Heart’s core (lubb): The deepest layer, where the unification of oneness consciousness resides.
Islam activates the outer layer, and correct practice leads to the activation of the level of faith. This process of spiritual awakening continues until only God’s love remains in the heart.
The first thing God places in the heart of one for whom He desires happiness is light. This light becomes a moon, then a sun. When light appears in the heart, this world grows cold. When the heart becomes a moon, the believer renounces the next world. When it becomes a sun, they see neither this world nor the next; they know nothing but God. Their body, heart, and speech are all light. As God says, “Light upon light, God guides whom He will to His light” (Q’24:35).
When the heart is filled with God’s light, the stage of unification begins, and the seeker arrives at God Himself. This is a continuous game of finding and losing. “When I find my Lord, I lose my heart, and when I find my heart, I lose my Lord.” The seeker does not stop hoping they might merge with God. While common people strive for obedience, the elite focus on acknowledging God's lordship. But the chosen ones are those God pulls to Himself, effacing them from themselves.
Those who transform their earthly selves by passing away from self-consciousness and reclaiming their primordial state as witnesses of God’s lordship are given a special mission: to guide others to God. This is the ultimate purpose of The Divine Clinic Foundation and through its services of purification humanity is liberated to be one with The One.
The Spiritual Elect:
For a select few, the struggle to erase the sense of self to affirm God’s uniqueness leads to the formation of a "reclaimed" self, reconstituted in God's image. These individuals become God’s instruments on earth, guiding the community toward Him. This is the path of the spiritual elect—a tightly-knit group of "brethren" that are the “choice of believers” or "the pure ones." At The Divine Clinic Foundation, our mission is to provide the guidance through its services and support necessary for individuals to embark on this transformative journey.
A spiritual guide plays a significant role in the community. God has made them “unfurled flags of truth,” lighthouses for guidance, and beaten paths for humanity. They are the true scholars, the noblest of the pious, and the ones who provide light in the darkness of ignorance. God has made them a symbol of His mercy, a blessing for those He chooses. They are the instruments He uses to instruct the ignorant, remind the negligent, and guide the seeker. Their light shines for all to see. Whoever follows their footsteps will be guided on the right path and find happiness. This is the very essence of our purpose: to raise up these spiritual guides and help them fulfill their divine mission, thereby serving as a beacon of hope for all.

Divine Trust: The Path to The Divine Trustee
The first stage of divine trust is when a person surrenders to God's will, much like a body in the hands of a washer. In this state, they have no control or motion of their own.This surrender marks the triumph of the heart(qalb) over the lower self (nafs), bringing an end to the internal struggle between these two opposing forces.
At The Divine Clinic Foundation, we understand that this state of trust is the climax of human life on Earth. Our mission is to guide individuals to this profound level of surrender, helping them find final relief from inner turmoil.
A cosmic framework for this surrender is recognizing Almighty and the divinely guided to Saints as cosmic entities of light. From the light of God, the primordial light of the seal of messengers Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was created, and from this, a mighty column of crystal-like light was formed. This column became the source of all creation, from the spiritual prototypes of prophets and saints to all of humanity. The light of Muhammad absorbed and eternally projected the light of God onto creation in the form of the Quran.
In this divine scheme, prophets and saints hold a special place. They are the spiritual elect, the objects of God's desire (muraˉd), while the rest of humanity are God-seekers (murıˉd). The elect never forget their witnessing of God's Lordship on the Day of the Covenant, while others suffer from a kind of amnesia.
The elect, chosen by God, are granted special privileges:
They are assured of salvation without having to account for their actions.
They receive divine revelations—miracles (
mu’jizaˉt) for the prophets and charismatic gifts (karaˉmaˉt) for the saints.
They are gifted with a deep understanding of the divine scriptures.
The prophets have a clear superiority over the saints, yet the two share many characteristics. Prophets are given divine speech in the form of revelation, while saints possess supernatural speech through inspiration. Like the prophets, saints have knowledge of primordial beginnings, divine decrees, and the hidden meanings of the divine books They also perform miracles, such as clairvoyance, rapid travel, and walking on water.
The Divine Trustee: Our Purpose
Just as neglecting the messages of the prophets leads to perdition, so does heedlessness toward the words of the saints. Both prophets and saints are assured of salvation. The saints are successors to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), assigning them the task of protecting and leading the community of believers in the post-prophetic era.
At The Divine Clinic Foundation, we believe that the spiritual elect—the saints—are the divine trustees of our time. They are the direct link to the divine after the Prophet, serving as guides and protectors for the community.

The Divine Authority of the Guide
Over time, after one surrenders to God’s will this concept evolved to describe the relationship between a spiritual aspirant and their Master. The aspirant, in a state of absolute trust, becomes like the corpse, submitting completely to the guide's authority.
Our masters, are the physicians of the heart. Their authority is a sacred trust, mirroring the Prophet's role in his community as the perfect human heart. This relationship is so foundational that it led to powerful sayings like, "Service to the Guide is better than worship" and "One who does not have a Guide does not have a religion." At our foundation, we honor this sacred bond, recognizing that a true guide is essential for navigating the spiritual path.
Beyond Formal Knowledge
To begin this journey, a seeker must first ground themselves in formal knowledge of the divine law.
Sufism is a process of internalizing this knowledge, moving beyond a purely legalistic understanding of religion. It's about reliving the Prophet’s intimate experience of the Night Journey (Ascension aka Mi’raˉj), where he ascended to receive God's commands. It is a journey from the external rules to the internal reality.
The highest levels of spiritual ascent are reserved for God's chosen servants, the saints (Friends of God- Awliyaˉ’), who are envied by even prophets and martyrs for their closeness to God. For them, every act of worship and every moment of their lives is an intimate union with the Divine. As one master said, "I am neither worshipper, nor scholar, nor Sufi: My God, You are One, and by that Oneness of Yours, I am One!"
These spiritual masters may appear as "wise fools" to the world, effaced from themselves by God's pull. Yet, they are living examples of "divine excellence." They remind us that the highest human state is not in what we possess but in our complete surrender to God.

Born in Murcia in 1165, the great Sufi master Ibn ‘Arabi was an extraordinary figure who would become one of the most prominent spiritual guides in history. His journey began with a profound illness that led him to abandon his aristocratic life for a nine-month mystical retreat. This was the start of his path on the Sufi Way, a journey marked by overwhelming visions and a tireless quest for knowledge. He traveled extensively throughout Andalusia and the Maghreb, immersing himself in the teachings of various Sufi masters.
In 1200, Ibn ‘Arabi left Andalusia for the East, a journey that would span thousands of kilometers and produce a monumental body of spiritual work. His travels took him to Mecca and Anatolia, and his writings, including his masterpiece, The Book of Spiritual Conquests of Mecca, would forever shape the essence of universal light witnessed in purity of absolute consciousness of Islam.

Ibn ‘Arabi represents the Sufi tradition in its purest form, a tradition we uphold at The Divine Clinic Foundation. As the "Great Master" (as−sheikhal−Akabar), he is renowned for his philosophical work on the Oneness of God (Tawhıˉd), recognizing the divine presence in every form and image. He saw himself as an heir, sowing the seeds for future generations, and his teachings were firmly rooted in the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad's example.
In his work, he explores the inner meaning of the five pillars of Islam, revealing an approach to faith centered on humility and purity rather than power. The great medical philosophers of the past, such as Ibn Rushd (Averroes) and Ibn Sina (Avicenna), believed in knowing God through the study of phenomena. For him, God not only created the world but is actively manifesting in all creatures. As he famously wrote, “The world is a mirror for God.”
Ibn ‘Arabi didn't oppose the scientific method; he considered it incomplete. While a philosopher studies the works of God, a mystic, in his view, "sees God at work." The perfect believer, then, isn't just someone who studies the world to know God, but one who understands that the world is a mirror and phenomena are merely reflections of the Divine.
